Contiflo OD is a modified-release tablet containing tamsulosin hydrochloride, an alpha-blocker medication. This prescription drug alleviates urinary symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Its sustained-release formulation enables once-daily dosing for improved patient convenience and compliance. Uses Contiflo OD treats lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia. It relieves frequent urination, urgent urination, weak urine stream, difficulty starting urination, and incomplete bladder emptying in men with enlarged prostate. Dosage Patient Type Standard Dosage Timing Adult men 0.4mg once daily 30 minutes after the same meal each day Swallow tablet whole without chewing or crushing to maintain the modified-release action. Dosage may be adjusted based on patient response. Duration of Action Contiflo OD begins working within 2-3 days, though full therapeutic effects may take 2-4 weeks to develop. The modified-release formulation provides symptom relief for 24 hours, enabling once-daily dosing. Effects last only while taking the medication. Side Effects Common side effects include dizziness, headache, runny or stuffy nose, and abnormal ejaculation. Most side effects are mild and often improve as the body adjusts to the medication. Less common effects include fatigue, drowsiness, and orthostatic hypotension. Warning Contiflo OD may cause dizziness, fainting, or vision changes, especially when starting treatment. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Contiflo OD is not indicated for use in women. It is specifically designed for men with benign prostatic hyperplasia.
